The Australian government and related commissions are actively rolling out new initiatives and policy reforms to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
Disability Action Plan: The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has released a new Disability Action Plan for 2025–2030. This plan focuses on three main objectives: improving accessibility in digital and physical environments, making the NDIS Commission an employer of choice for people with disabilities, and leading disability inclusion efforts.
Disability Employment Reforms: The Department of Social Services announced a new specialist disability employment program that will begin on July 1, 2025. It aims to help more people with disability find and keep sustainable employment. A new “Centre for Inclusive Employment” is also being established to provide evidence-based information and support for employment services.
NDIS Advisory Body: The Western Australian government is forming a new Community Advisory Council on the NDIS. This council will include people with disabilities and will provide feedback and advice on the practical aspects of the scheme’s operation in the state.
